Family Trip to San Antonio

On Memorial Day weekend, Jack, Ben and I went to San Antonio.  The first part of the trip we stayed at The Crockett with Mimi and Papa Steve.  We had our own room of course.  My mom has a time share and they had a deal where we could stay 2 nights if we came to listen to an hour and half presentation.  Sure.  Why not.  I have to say the first part of the vacation was extremely difficult/exhausting for me.  I think it might have been because we were staying downtown and there wasn't much space for Jack to run around, except for the Alamo and we'll get to that in a minute.

So our journey started.  Here are a few pics of Jack in the car.  He loves car rides right now so the trip was not bad.  As long as you can stand Fresh Beat Band and kid Sunday School songs playing in the car.

Jack loves mommy's water cup.

Our first pit stop was in West, Texas at the Kolache Bakery.  Then we stopped in Round Rock at a Chick Fil A for lunch.  Jack loved stretching his legs and playing on the playground.

The first night we went to eat at the mexican place on the Riverwalk.  Casa Rio I think.  I never remember what it is called but I know the place.  Here is Jack and mommy looking at fish and a waterfall on the Riverwalk.

After dinner, we went on a walk down the river.  Jack loved this.

Then we rode the Riverwalk tour boats.  It had been a really long time since I had done this and Ben never had.

The two mornings we stayed at The Crockett, Ben took Jack over to the Alamo to get some energy out.  This was right after breakfast so they played while I rested and got all of Jack's bags/things together for the day.

Jack looks like a tour guide saying "And to your right is the Alamo"

One of the days we were there, we took Jack to the Zoo.  He had fun but it was hot!  The last thing we did before we left for lunch was ride the train at the zoo.  It was a nice break to sit down and take a rest.  Notice our worn out faces.

The next morning I decided to join Jack and Ben at the Alamo for their morning walk.  Here are some pictures.

The last thing we did before heading to our 2nd part of our family vacation was ride the Double Decker bus and complete a 45 minute tour of San Antonio.

Except our bus broke down in the outskirts of downtown San Antonio so our trip was around an hour and half.  We had to wait about 20-40 minutes for the next tour bus to come and pick us up.  Luckily it was a place that had some place to sit and shade.  Jack didn't mind.  He just went up and down the stairs.

We finally made it to our 2nd part of our trip.  This part was just Jack, Ben, and Mommy.  We were staying at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort.  This is the best place.  There is tons of room for Jack to run around and not have to worry about cars.  There are a few pools and a lazy river.  There is a playground and they also have a family friendly movie on the lawn every other night.  It's the best.  And it was so relaxing.  Here is Jack ready to go swimming the afternoon we arrived.

Getting hydrated before getting into the pool.

It took Jack a little while to get used to/comfortable with the water.  So we first went in the lazy river.  I put Jack on Ben's lap and we rode in tubes on the river.  Jack seemed to really like this and was very relaxed.  Then we headed over to the kiddie pool and Jack had tons of fun jumping in the pool holding Daddy's hands.

Each night they have S'mores available (for free).  Everyone gets to toast their own marshmallows.  Jack saw me toast mine so he wanted to get his own stick and pretend to toast one for himself.

The first night we were at the resort Ben got a call from his boss informing him that his other boss had passed  away.  I have blogged about this here.  So Ben decided that night that we should leave in the morning.  The hotel was great about the whole thing and refunded our money for the night we weren't going to be staying.

Jack, napping on the car ride home.  I don't see how this is comfortable.
